Her name is Alaa Salah, and she has been dubbed “Kandaka,” or Nubian Queen. She is an engineering and architecture student, 22 years old, and one of many women that are leading Sudanese protests against the president that has been in office for over 30 years. The protests are for a pro democracy movement aimed at ending the corrupt and tyrannical government. Also, this photo was taken April 9th, 2019.
